As part of the celebrations to celebrate 15 years of the Club a day out was arranged for members by Gordon & Marilyn Neville.

On Saturday 20 September the day dawned sunny and very warm, just ideal for what lay ahead.

We started the day with coffee at the boat station and then it was all aboard for a boat trip to Bodiam Castle from the Bodiam Boating Station.  23 people came along (a full boat) to enjoy the river cruise.  On board were 4 children and they were given turns at the wheel to steer the boat for a short while (with the captain in close-attendance);  nothing untoward happened and we all arrived safely at our destination (what a lovely experience for the children!).  We spent the afternoon in and around Bodiam Castle and the majority of us went across the road to the pub for lunch outside.  We had plenty of time to people-watch, wander around or go into the NT shop to spend some money.  It was very pleasant and very relaxing.

Back on the boat for the return trip.  The riverside fishermen had all departed as had the kayaks and rowboats.  The scene was peaceful and the River Rother looked beautiful.  We disembarked at the end of the trip, with everyone keen to do this again - more next year!

Our next stop was the Morgan Motor Museum in Rolvenden where we had booked for a late opening.  What a wonderful Aladdin’s cave this museum is.  Packed to the gunnels with wonderful cars and all things to do with cars.  The men were in rapture and there was plenty for the girls to see, not only in the museum but in the lovely little antique area where much could be purchased (and some were).

After the museum we went across the road to the Black Bull where we had reserved tables for dinner.  Lovely food, lovely ambience.

It was then time for the off after the wonderful meal.  Everyone enjoyed this full day and many wanted to do something similar again.  A case of watch this space next year.
